WORKSHOP

THE BUSINESS TRUST WORKSHOP

Trust is the operating system every high-performing team runs on. This workshop shows your team where theirs is working, where it is costing you, and what to do about both — delivered as a report they own when they walk out.

THE TRUST CRISIS

TRUST IS THE MOST VALUABLE ASSET IN YOUR MARKET. AND IT IS IN FREEFALL.

86% vs 48%

of senior leaders believe their employees highly trust them. Only 48% of employees actually do.

The single biggest engagement and retention risk inside modern organisations is the gap between how leaders think they are landing and how their teams actually see them. Most leadership groups have never measured this gap honestly. The diagnostic starts here.

70%

of employees who experience inconsistent leadership report low engagement — compared to 20% in consistent environments.

Inconsistency is the fastest trust killer inside a team. It is also the one leaders most rarely see in themselves. The diagnostic surfaces where your leadership group is consistent, where it is drifting, and where it has already cost you.

Up to 400%

better overall performance in high-trust organisations versus low-trust competitors.

This is the gap the diagnostic closes. High-trust organisations outperform on every meaningful metric — productivity, retention, margin, revenue growth. The workshop converts trust from a soft concept into a scored, measurable, repeatable system.

TRUST IS NOT FELT INTO EXISTENCE. IT IS BUILT — AND IT IS MEASURED.

THE PROOF OF CONCEPT

2014. THREE WORLDS. ONE YEAR. BLIND.

In 2014 Matt set a World Record in track cycling and became a World Champion in Aguascalientes, Mexico. In the same year he exceeded his Optus enterprise sales target by 140%, managing complex, multi-million dollar strategic accounts, and won a national Pacesetter Award. That same year his first child was born. Not one then the other. All of it. Simultaneously. Blind.

The same year. Three completely different arenas.

Nothing crashed. Nothing burned. Not the sport. Not the career. Not the marriage. Not the family. More than a decade later Matt has three children, a strong marriage, and is still competing at world championship level. This is not a story about peak moments. It is a story about what happens when a trust system runs through every relationship — in a team on a 50-foot wave, in a sales meeting with a $50 million client, and at the dinner table with a wife and three kids — for twenty-five years, simultaneously, with less than 3% vision. The workshop you are looking at is how that system is built. Not as a lecture. As a diagnostic, run live, on your team, in the room.

MATT'S BUSINESS TRUST FORMULA

TIME

The multiplication is deliberate. If any variable drops to zero, the result is zero. You cannot shortcut trust. You cannot announce your way to it. You cannot buy it with a discount or a culture day. You have to do the work — and this framework shows exactly what that work looks like.

THE FRAMEWORK

FIVE PILLARS. ONE HIERARCHY. BUILT IN SEQUENCE.

Business Trust operates across five pillars — Self, Team, Stakeholder, Leadership, Customer. They are not independent and they are not interchangeable. They build from the bottom up. Customer trust cannot be engineered without leadership trust. Leadership trust cannot be engineered without team trust. None of it holds without self-trust at the foundation. This workshop runs the diagnostic in the order the framework was designed to be built — from the bottom up — and delivers a Traffic Light Report that shows your leadership team exactly which pillars are load-bearing, which are cracking, and which are failing.

01

Self-Trust

The foundation.

Self-trust is the capacity to hold your own standards, consistently, when no one is watching. Every pillar above it inherits its strength from this one. A leader who has quietly lowered their own bar cannot hold the bar for anyone else. The diagnostic starts here because nothing built above it holds if this is broken.

02

Team Trust

The multiplier.

Team trust is what your people hold each other to when the leader is out of the room. It is the difference between a group reporting to the same manager and a team that operates as a unit. High-trust teams share information, hold each other accountable, and move energy from internal politics to external performance. The diagnostic measures whether your teams are actually teams.

Green arrow right
03

Stakeholder Trust

The network.

Stakeholder trust extends to partners, suppliers, investors, and regulators — the trust your organisation carries outside its own walls but short of the customer. Deloitte boardroom research shows it directly affects 81% of business relationships. Most organisations measure stakeholder trust only when something breaks. The diagnostic identifies where yours is proactive and where it is reactive.

04

Leadership Trust

The signal.

Leadership trust is what your people actually believe their leaders will do — not what leaders say. Korn Ferry research shows 86% of leaders believe their employees trust them. Only 48% of employees agree. That 38-point gap is the single biggest engagement and retention risk inside modern organisations. The diagnostic surfaces the gap honestly and names the two or three behaviours costing the most.

05

Customer Trust

The outcome.

Customer trust is the external output of the four pillars beneath it. It cannot be manufactured by marketing, earned through discounts, or engineered in isolation. 87% of customers pay more for brands they trust. Loyal customers buy 90% more often. The diagnostic locates where your customer trust is strong, where it is eroding, and — critically — which of the four pillars beneath it is causing the erosion.

This is what your leadership team walks out with.

THE OUTPUT

THE TRAFFIC LIGHT REPORT.

Every workshop produces one. Your leadership team scores each of the five pillars against the three variables of the formula — Standards, Consistency, Time — and lands each cell on Green, Amber, or Red. The report is not produced by Matt. It is produced by the team in the room, using the diagnostic questions Matt walks them through. They leave with the artefact, the scoring method, and the two highest-leverage cells to address in the next 90 days. Every team we have run the diagnostic with has surfaced at least one red cell no one in the room knew was red.

THIS WORKSHOP IS PERFECT FOR

Leadership teams, senior executive groups, sales organisations, and culture or people-function teams — any group where trust directly drives what the team produces. Built for teams ready to run the diagnostic on themselves honestly, in the room, with no consultant softening the scoring.

THE ENGAGEMENT

TWO FORMATS. BOTH IN-PERSON. BOTH BUILT AROUND YOUR BRIEF.

The workshop is in-person only. The diagnostic requires the group in the same room, reading each other in real time, holding each other accountable across the scoring. Remote delivery does not produce the same honesty or the same artefact.

HALF DAY

Best suited to leadership groups, sales teams, or function-level teams of 8 to 15. Covers the full five-pillar framework, the live diagnostic across Standards × Consistency × Time, and the Traffic Light Report. Intensive pace. The team walks out with the artefact, the two highest-leverage actions for the next 90 days, and a shared language they carry into every meeting afterwards.

FULL DAY

Best suited to senior executive groups, full sales organisations, or cross-functional teams of 15 to 40. Everything in the half-day session, plus extended pillar-by-pillar deep work, facilitated group breakouts per pillar, the physical and breathing exercises drawn from elite athletic training, and the closing sequence where the framework is pressure-tested against Matt's own lived reality. The team walks out with the full Traffic Light Report and a draft 90-day action plan owned across the group.

Not sure which format suits your team? Use the enquiry form below and Matt's team will recommend the right scope for your group size, industry, and the outcome you are looking for.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOUR ORGANISATION

The organisations that run the trust diagnostic on themselves — honestly, annually, at the team level — are the ones that hold on to their best people longer, close bigger deals from a foundation of credibility competitors cannot replicate, and charge higher margins because clients believe in them. They do not assume their trust system is working. They measure it. The teams that walk out of this workshop with a Traffic Light Report and a 90-day action plan are not better than the ones who skip the session. They just have a map their competitors do not. That is what the workshop puts in your hands. Not a culture initiative. A diagnostic.

WHAT YOUR TEAM LEAVES WITH

FROM THE ROOM TO MONDAY MORNING.

  • The completed Traffic Light Report
A completed diagnostic across all five pillars — Self, Team, Stakeholder, Leadership, Customer — scored by the team in the room against Standards, Consistency, and Time. The artefact is owned by the team, not by Matt, and is theirs to revisit quarterly.
  • The two highest-leverage actions
A shortlist of the two red or amber cells with the biggest commercial consequence — identified collectively and owned by a named accountable leader inside the session. No vague commitments. Named actions, named owners, 90-day horizon.
  • A shared language across the group
Every person in the room leaves with the same vocabulary — pillars, variables, scoring — so that trust becomes a measurable topic in pipeline reviews, team meetings, one-on-ones, and leadership meetings, rather than a soft concept relegated to culture slides.
  • A diagnostic the team can re-run annually
The framework is designed to be re-run every 12 months. Teams score the pillars again, compare to the baseline, and measure movement. The workshop is the first diagnostic. The framework is the system that runs after it.
  • The physical and breathing exercises
The same protocols Matt uses in elite athletic training, translated for boardroom use. Simple, repeatable, and designed to hold composure in high-stakes conversations — the moments where trust is built or broken fastest.
